Wells Fargo to buy back up to $40 billion of its common stock

(Reuters) -Wells Fargo ( WFC ) said on Tuesday that its board had authorized a stock buyback program of up to $40 billion.

The new plan will take effect upon the completion of the current repurchase program, it said.
