03:42 AM EDT, 04/01/2026 (MT Newswires) -- WeRide ( WRD ) and Grab (GRAB) said late Tuesday they launched public operations for an autonomous passenger transit system within a Singapore residential district.
The self-driving fleet previously completed 30,000 kilometers of testing with over 1,000 passengers during a trial phase that began in January, the companies said.
The network will operate on weekdays and use former ride-hailing workers who were retrained as onboard safety supervisors and remote fleet monitors, according to the companies.
Passenger trips will remain free of charge to gather community feedback before commercial operations begin in mid-2026, the companies said.
Shares of WeRide ( WRD ) were down 1.8%, while Grab shares were up 1.6% in Wednesday premarket activity.
