11:07 AM EST, 03/05/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Western Digital ( WDC ) said Tuesday it is on track to separate its hard disk drive and flash businesses in H2.

As part of its separation plans, the company said it has named Western Digital ( WDC ) Chief Executive David Goeckeler as CEO designate for the flash spinoff.

Executive Vice President of Global Operations Irving Tan will step into the CEO role for the remaining standalone hard disk drive company to continue operating as Western Digital ( WDC ), the firm said.

Shares of the company were down more than 2% in recent trading.
