Westpac appoints Anthony Miller as new chief executive officer

(Reuters) -Westpac has appointed Anthony Miller as chief executive officer and managing director, the Australian bank said on Monday.

Anthony Miller, who joined the company in 2019, was serving as the chief executive of Westpac's Business & Wealth division, and will succeed Peter King, who will retire after a 30-year career at Westpac including five years as CEO.

Peter King, who was the chief financial officer of the company, was appointed as the acting chief executive from December 2019 till March 2020, transitioning to a permanent role in April 2020, around the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Miller will commence his role as CEO from December 16, 2024, the company said.
