Analysts polled by FactSet expected $3.71.
Total revenue for the quarter ended June 30 was $659.6 million, down from $673.5 million a year earlier.
Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected $649.6 million.
For Q3, the company said it expects adjusted earnings of $4.30 to $4.50 per diluted share on revenue of $669 million to $689 million. Analysts surveyed by FactSet expect EPS of $4.14 on revenue of $665 million.
WEX said it now expects full-year adjusted earnings of $15.37 to $15.77 per diluted share, up from $14.72 to $15.32 previously. Analysts surveyed by FactSet expect $15.14.
Full-year revenue is forecast at $2.61 billion to $2.65 billion, up from the prior outlook of $2.57 billion to $2.63 billion. Analysts expect $2.61 billion.
Shares of WEX were up more than 6% in after-hours activity.
