What's Going On With Autodesk Stock After Earnings?

Autodesk, Inc. ( ADSK ) shares are trading lower Tuesday after the company reported its first-quarter financial results. Additionally, a purported stockholder derivative complaint was filed in the U.S. District Court that named the directors and Chief Strategy Officer as defendants and the company as a nominal defendant.

The Details:

Autodesk ( ADSK ) reported quarterly earnings of $1.87 per share which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $1.77 by 5.65%. 

Quarterly sales came in at $1.42 billion which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $1.39 billion by 1.94% and represents an 11.66% increase over sales from the same period last year, primarily due to an 11% increase in subscription revenue.

According to a company filing, on June 7, a purported stockholder derivative complaint was filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, naming current directors and Autodesk's ( ADSK ) Chief Strategy Officer as defendants and the company as a nominal defendant. 

Autodesk ( ADSK ) said the complaint generally alleges violations of Section 14(a) of the Exchange Act and breach of fiduciary duties, aiding and abetting breach of fiduciary duties, unjust enrichment, abuse of control, and waste of corporate assets, based on similar underlying allegations contained in the purported federal securities class action complaint.
