Facebook-owned Whatsapp has experienced a good year as it has been constantly adding new features such as WhatsApp stickers, picture-in-picture (PiP) mode, Group video calling and more.

This year will be full of surprises and here is the list of expected features in 2019.

Consecutive Voice Messages

This feature will allow users to play voice messages if they are consecutively sent in a sequence. Currently, it's a beta feature and users will have to tap on the play button and the messages will be automatically played.

Dark Mode

The company is expected to launch this feature in January 2019, which will give users an option to select a dark theme that will be light on their eyes and won’t hamper their eyes even after extended usage under low-lighting conditions.

Media Preview

This feature will allow users to preview any media (video, image or audio) via their smartphone’s notification tray. Users will just have to swipe down on the message in order to view the media content without the need of opening the WhatsApp.

Ranking of Contacts

This will automatically rank all your contacts based on the frequency of the interaction you've had with the other users.
