Woodside Faces LNG Production Outage Following Cyclone in Western Australia
Mar 27, 2026 5:35 AM

08:05 AM EDT, 03/27/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Woodside Energy's ( WDS ) liquefied natural gas production has been impacted after outages caused by a cyclone in the region, a spokesperson for the company told MT Newswires Friday in an emailed statement.

The company said that the Karratha Gas Plant, the onshore processing facility for its North West Shelf Project, suffered an interruption to production due to Tropical Cyclone Narelle.

The company said it would restart production at the project once it can send workers to the offshore facilities.

Chevron ( CVX ) also faced a disruption to production due to the cyclone, several news outlets reported Thursday, citing a company spokesperson.

Chevron ( CVX ) is working to resume production at the Gorgon and Wheatstone gas facilities, which produce roughly 6.5% of global liquefied natural gas, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Chevron ( CVX ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
