Workers at 2 Hilton Hotel Locations In Seattle Go on Strike
Oct 17, 2024 2:49 PM

11:31 AM EDT, 10/14/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Hilton Worldwide's ( HLT ) unionized hotel workers have expanded their series of temporary walkouts in recent days to include two additional locations in Seattle in an ongoing dispute with the company's management over wages, scheduling and other benefits.

The Unite Here union said on Saturday that 374 of its members working at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Seattle Airport and Hilton Seattle Airport & Conference Center walked out and were participating in a limited duration strike slated to continue through Oct. 19. The union on Monday said nearly 700 employees working at two privately held Omni hotels in Boston also began a week-long strike.

Overall, the union on Monday said over 5,000 housekeepers, front desk agents, cooks, dishwashers, servers, bartenders and bellhops at Hilton, Hyatt (H), Mariott (MAR) and Omni locations were participating in its series of strikes that began on Labor Day weekend in various US cities. In addition to wage increases, Unite Here was seeking staffing and workload changes and the reversal of COVID-era cuts as part of a new contract.

Hilton did not immediately respond to a request from MT Newswires on Monday seeking comment.
