With the upcoming state elections this year and the Lok Sabha polls next year, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday said the party will have alliances with Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) and other regional parties for the 2019 elections.

At the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit (HTLS) 2018, Gandhi said he expects to win a lot of seats in the upcoming general elections.
When asked about the prospects of he getting voted as next Prime Minister of India, Gandhi said he will strengthen the small and the medium enterprises, give more importance to the state of farmers in the country and build a low-cost high quality medical and education infrastructure.
On the difference between his and Sonia Gandhi's leadership style, Gandhi scion said, "She goes on feeling, I go on thinking," indicating that he strives to be a practical leader.
Gandhi said India has two prime problems, first, there are no jobs and the second, if small, medium businesses open, the government is attacking them.
He also attacked the NDA government for introducing Goods and Services Tax (GST) and the decision on demonetisation.
"Demonetisation wiped out two percent of the gross domestic product (GDP). We had a different concept of the GST too, but the government did not listen to us," Gandhi added.
Speaking on his temple visits during the Gujarat assembly elections 2017 to woo voters, Gandhi said, "I have been going to temples, gurdwaras, mosques for years. Suddenly, it has become publicised. I guess BJP doesn’t like it. It infuriates them," adding that, "Maybe BJP feels only they can go to temples."
