Alstom's hydrogen-powered trains enter into passenger service in lower Saxony, Germany.
The trains are equipped with fuel cells that convert hydrogen and oxygen into electricity. The low-noise, zero-emission trains can travel up to 140 kilometers/hour.
The trains will be operated on nearly 100 kms of line and they will run between Cuxhaven, Bremerhaven, Bremervörde and Buxtehude in Germany.
The trains will be fuelled at a mobile hydrogen filling station and Hydrogen will be pumped into the trains from a 40-foot-high steel container next to the tracks at Bremervörde station.
The trains can run throughout the network, the whole day with a single tank; total range of 1,000 kms. Alstom will deliver 14 more of these trains by 2021
