08:36 AM EDT, 08/26/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The Philadelphia Federal Reserve Bank's monthly nonmanufacturing activity index fell to minus 17.5 in August from minus 10.3 in the previous month, indicating more widespread contraction in the sector.

The readings for new orders, sales and prices paid all increased, but the employment reading fell below the breakeven point in the month.

The six-month outlook at the regional level improved modestly, with 36.2% of respondents expecting expansion in the region over the next six months compared with 34.8% that expect contraction.
