State-owned lender Bank of Baroda has established a team of lawyers to speed up the loan recovery process, reported The Economic Times.
The team will deal with bad loans, whose recovery is now embroiled in legal complications, according to the report. Bank of Baroda has 380 high-value bad loan accounts with total outstanding of about Rs 15,000 crore.
“We have commenced aggressive actions for recovery and have started monitoring directly the progress of enforcement actions in those high-value accounts…We would be recruiting about 50 more in-house lawyers this financial year to strengthen our legal team,” Venugopal Narayanan, head – legal at Bank of Baroda was quoted as saying in the report.
