Budget 2022: MeitY seeks additional allocation of Rs 20,000 crore

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has sought an additional budget allocation of Rs 20,000 crores.

The ministry has cited the need for a fiscal push on the back of renewed investor interest and the need for a further impetus on Digital India.

MeitY is hoping that if allocation is granted, it can be given for a PLI push for various subsets of the electronics sector.

Russian oil tankers are increasingly going dark or shutting off their transponders and automatic identification systems (AIS) in order to evade US-led sanctions. Oil cargo is switching hands from Russian sources to companies and countries silently in order to avoid the global stigma of being associated with Russia as it continues to attack Ukraine. India has already bought more Russian crude since February than it did in the full previous year.
