Coronavirus Updates LIVE: PM CARES Fund allocates Rs 3,100 crore in COVID-19 fight
The allocation under the PM CARES Fund will be used for strengthening efforts in providing accommodation, food arrangements, providing medical treatment and making transportation arrangements of migrants. States/UTs will be given a lumpsum assistance of total Rs 1,000 crore from PM CARES Fund for welfare of migrant and poor. The funds will left at the disposal of the district collectors/municipal commissioners.
State/UT-wise funds will be released on the weightage of:
Population of the State/UT as per 2011 Census – 50 percent, weightage
Number of positive COVID-19 cases as on date – 40 percent weightage and
Equal share (10 percent weightage) for all states/UTs to ensure basic minimum sum for all states.

Coronavirus Updates LIVE: DMRC working on detailed cleaning procedure in view of pandemic
DMRC is working on a detailed plan to restart services and was looking at all systems of the metro including the signalling, electrical, rolling stock, tracks etc that need to be tested in detail before services are restarted. The exercise will be extremely exhaustive as it involves multiple stations, coaches, over escalators, lifts across NCR.

Coronavirus Updates LIVE: DMRC says working on detailed cleaning procedure in view of pandemic
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has said that it is working out a detailed cleaning and maintenance procedure in view of the pandemic. The exercise will be extremely exhaustive as it involves 264 stations over 2,200 coaches and over 1,100 escalators and 1,000 lifts. Protocol for social distancing and other dos and don’ts are also being worked on. The date for the resumption of metro services has not been finalised and will be notified to the public in due course of time, CNBC-TV18 reported.

Coronavirus Updates LIVE: No classified work will be handled in e-offices says govt in draft consultation paper on WFM
The government has floated a draft consultation paper on "work from home” and has invited comments from ministries/departments by May 21. In the draft papers, as per instructions from the Ministry of Home Affairs no classified information shall be handled through e-office. Therefore, classified files shall not be processed in e-office during work from home. NIC may evaluate the existing security protocol for remote access of classified file/ information in consultation with MHA and propose suitable guidelines and standard operating procedures for handling classified information in e-office, the draft read.

Coronavirus Updates LIVE: Government floats draft consultation paper on ‘work for home’ for ministries/departments
A standard framework for “work from home" across ministries/departments/subordinate offices is needed for smooth and seamless functioning of the government machinery, which will ensure continuity of the office works besides imparting resilience in the ecosystem even post lockdown situations. The government has hence floated a draft consultation paper on "work from home” and has invited comments by May 21. Presently about 75 ministries/departments are actively using e-office platforms of which 57 ministries/departments have achieved more than 80 percent of their work in e-office. The remaining ministries/departments would make endeavour for expeditious implementation of e-office in secretariat/ministries/departments and also in their attached and subordinate offices in a time bound manner, a note read.

Coronavirus Updates LIVE: No new COVID-19 cases in 9 states, UTs in last 24 hours
Nine states and union territories have not reported any new COVID-19 patients in the last 24 hours and the rate of doubling of cases has increased to 12.6 days, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said on Wednesday, even as the death toll due to the novel coronavirus rose to 2,415 and cases climbed to 74,281. Vardhan, who also reviewed the preparedness of Punjab for managing COVID-19, said Daman and Diu, Sikkim, Nagaland and Lakshadweep have not reported any cases so far. While the doubling time of cases in the past 14 days was 11, it has improved to 12.6 in the last three days, he said. As the death toll due to COVID-19 rose to 2,415 and the number of cases climbed to 74,281, registering an increase of 122 deaths and 3,525 cases in the last 24 hours till Wednesday 8 am, he said the fatality rate is 3.2 per cent and the recovery rate is pegged at 32.8 per cent.

News agency ANI reported that a sum of Rs 3,100 crore has been allocated from the PM CARES Fund in the COVID-19 fight. Out of Rs 3,100 crore, Rs 2,000 crore will be earmarked for the purchase of ventilators, Rs 1,000 crore will be used for the care of migrant workers and Rs 100 crore will be given to support vaccine development.

Coronavirus Updates LIVE: COVID-19 positive woman gives birth to twins in Odisha
A 32-year-old woman, who had tested positive for COVID-19 after returning from Surat, delivered twins -- a boy and a girl -- at a government hospital in Odisha on Wednesday. While the boy died because of low birth weight, the condition of the mother and the baby girl is stable, Superintendent of the MKCG Medical College and Hospital said. The woman, who had returned to Odisha's Ganjam district from Gujarat recently, gave birth to the babies about two months ahead of her term, he said. It was a normal delivery, after which the woman and her baby were kept in separate cabins away from other patients, he added.
