Dallas Fed April Manufacturing Index Indicates Faster Contraction
Apr 27, 2026 7:51 AM

10:43 AM EDT, 04/27/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The Dallas Fed's monthly manufacturing index fell to a reading of minus 2.3 in April from minus 0.2 in March, compared with expectations for an increase to a reading of 0.8.

The index indicates faster contraction, which is in contrast with other regional manufacturing readings already released, and the S&P global flash measure that suggested expansion.

For Dallas, there were gains in the readings for production, shipments, new orders, employment and prices paid.

The reading for the company outlook rebounded to 3.0 from minus 3.5 in March.
