The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) issued a notification on Wednesday (September 13) stating that it has extended the applicability of current Renewable Energy tariff norms till March 31, 2024. However, the CERC said it needs more time to notify tariff regulations for the next control period. The CERC has "already initiated the process of reviewing the RE (Renewable Energy sources) Tariff Regulations for the next Control Period," the notification said.

"The revised Regulations shall be notified after undertaking the due regulatory process, which requires some more time," the Commission wrote.
The CERC had earlier extended the current tariff norms till September 30, 2023. In the latest notification, it said, "The Commission also issued a Suo-Motu Order in Petition No.3/SM/2023 on 27.3.2023 extending the applicability of the Order in Petition No. 14/SM/2022 dated 07.11.2022 for a period of 6 months that is up to 30th September 2023," the notification read. "The said Order in Petition No. 14/SM/2022 dated 07.11.2022 is now further extended up to 31.03.2024," it added.
"The principles and norms enunciated in the aforesaid Regulations shall continue to be applicable till the notification of the Regulations for the new Control Period. Therefore, the Order dated 07.11.2022 in Petition No. 14/SM/2022 shall also continue to be in force until further Orders," the CERC stated in the notification.
