Fed's Barkin: Consumers are spending, but not as flush as in pandemic years

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -Consumers continue to spend given low unemployment and wage gains, but are more constrained than during the pandemic years, Richmond Fed president Thomas Barkin said on Thursday.

"While consumers are still spending, we are not in 2022 anymore. Consumers are not as flush," Barkin said in comments to the Aiken Chamber of Commerce in South Carolina. "They are making choices."
