Focusing a lot on food and beverages business, says Royal Orchid Hotels
May 29, 2018 6:39 AM

We are focusing a lot on food and beverages (F&B) because there is a scope for a lot of improvement, said Chander Baljee, CMD, Royal Orchid Hotels.

We are looking at about 78% occupancy as against 70% last year. So there has been 8% increase in the occupancy across the group of our hotels, said Baljee.

Last year we added 8 hotels and this year we are planning to add about 15 hotels. It should be about 63-65 hotels this year, he said.

We also expect Powai land sale to close in 2-3 months, he added.

“There is a great scope to increase the average room rates (ARRs) and I feel the ARR should grow in this coming year by about 10%,” he said.

On occupancy front, Baljee said, “There will be substantial increase in occupancy which will be followed by increase in ARRs. So this year we have seen attraction in both. In the next year, there will be less increase in the occupancy and more increase in the ARR.”

Fed's Goolsbee uneasy about rate cuts, says nothing wrong with dissenting
Nov 20, 2025
(Reuters) -Chicago Federal Reserve President Austan Goolsbee on Thursday said he is uneasy about cutting interest rates in the face of too-high inflation that's steady at best and by some measures getting worse, remarks that signal a reluctance to support a third straight reduction in borrowing costs next month. My unease is about the short-run front-loading of too many rate...

Nov 20, 2025
(Reuters) -Philadelphia Federal Reserve President Anna Paulson said on Thursday she is approaching the U.S. central bank's next meeting cautiously, despite supporting its last two interest rate cuts, as the threat of prolonged high inflation needs to be balanced with the risk of rising unemployment. On the margin, I'm still a little more worried about the labor market than I...
