The first GDP estimates released by the government show that the Indian economy is likely to grow at 5 percent during the current fiscal. This will be the slowest pace of growth since 2009. The projection is in line with the outcome of the CNBC-TV18 GDP survey.
However, the growth numbers will also dent the government's fiscal math. Nominal GDP is estimated at 7.5 percent and the budget target was in double digits. Sapna Das analyses as to how this will impact the fiscal deficit.
