Government confident of achieving FY19 GST target, says revenue secretary Ajay Bhushan Pandey

The government is confident of achieving FY19 budgeted target for Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection and the revenue department is getting inputs about entities which are evading taxes, said revenue secretary Ajay Bhushan Pandey.

“Our monthly target is Rs 1 lakh crore and we want to increase that to Rs 110,000 crore,” Pandey said.

Goods and services tax (GST) collections have seen a dip in the month of November. In the first eight months (April-November) of the current fiscal, the government has mopped up over Rs 7.76 lakh crore from GST. The 2018-19 budget had estimated annual GST collection at Rs 13.48 lakh crore, which means a monthly target of Rs 1.12 lakh crore.

On simplified return form, he said, The new forms will be rolled out from April 1, 2019.

S Ramesh, chairman of Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs spoke at length about the steps that the government is taking on the concerns of the traders on the refund process of the integrated goods and service tax (IGST) systems.

The government has given about Rs 90,000 crore of refund since last few months and it’s a huge amount which has gone to all the taxpayers who are eligible for refund, said S Ramesh, chairman, Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs on the concerns of the traders on the refund process of the integrated goods and service tax (IGST) systems.
