The top-5 most polluted cities are Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Faisalabad (Pakistan), Faridabad and Bhiwadi.

IQAir Airvisual and GreenPeace report says outdoor pollution is the world's 4th leading contributor to early deaths. The report also estimates a global cost of $225 billion in lost labour and trillions in medical costs.

Of over 3,000 cities studied, 64 percent exceeded w.h.o's annual exposure guideline for fine particulate matter

99 percent of the cities in south asia, 95 percent of the cities in Southeast Asia and 89 percent of the cities in East Asia exceeded W.H.O's annual exposure guideline for fine particulate matter.

22 of the 30 most polluted cities in the world are in India, 5 are in China, 2 are in Pakistan & 1 is in Bangladesh

India's national capital, Delhi, is ranked 11th. Beijing (rank #122) has shown the most improvement; fine particulate levels down over 40 percent since 2013.

Air pollution is responsible for the premature death of 7 million people each year (according to a UN expert).
