The Indian Air Force has asked the defence ministry to purchase more ammunition amid escalated tensions on the Line of Control (LoC) after Pakistan’s Air Force brought all its F16s upfront on the border, moving terror outfit camps out of IAF's reach, The Economic Times reported.

Hectic flying activity is being seen on both sides of LoC, claimed the ET report on Wednesday, adding that India has been maintaining high operational alertness.
According to the report, India is flying several sorties of its fighter jets, fully loaded with their respective missiles which inevitably reduces the ammunition shelf life.
“These missiles have a certain life. While stored in a canister, this is counted in terms of the age of the system in years but when fighters are operationally deployed, the life of the missile depends on the number of sorties being undertaken. So we need fresh replenishments,” a top government official was quoted as saying in the report.
Pakistan has moved all the terror outfits to the far west in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) after India’s air strike on Balakot which targeted the Jaish-e-Mohammed camp, the report added.
