Monsoon is reviving and the activity has increased in Mumbai and also there are reports of good rainfall in Central and Northern part of India. The India Meteorological Department on Tuesday issued a heavy rainfall warning for Mumbai for July 24-25 stating that a cyclonic circulation would bring more showers to the city in the next two days.

KS Hosalikar of India Meteorological Department (IMD) said, “Mumbai started with very heavy rainfall on July 1 itself. July 1 and July 2 was very heavy rainfall. Today also 174mm and a couple of days back there were thundershowers, etc. in Mumbai. At the same time, July recorded 36.2-degree all-time record temperature of Mumbai in the month of July. So, July month as far as Mumbai is concerned, internal variability was very good.”

There was very good rainfall all over India, with Bihar, the North East region and Uttar Pradesh receiving extra rainfall, he said, adding that this definitely has helped to improve the all India rainfall averages.

"In central India, we are expecting some good rainfall in the coming days, especially on July 26, 27, and 28 we are expecting good rainfall in the interior over the Vidharbha region which is probably having higher deficiency even compared to Marathwada,” he added.

August is going to be a better month as compared to July, said Hosalikar. “We are expecting on a higher side percentage of rainfall at all India level. That is what is expected, that is what the long-range forecast is talking about of IMD,” he said.
