India among world's most open economies, says Invest India

Deepak Bagla, MD and CEO, Invest India, said India is one of the most open economies on the planet today.

Speaking to CNBC-TV18’s Shereen Bhan on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum’s annual summit in Davos, he said, “The positivism towards India is very palpable, it is right out there and even within the change in geopolitical situation, the strength of India and India’s leadership is emerging and has been out there recognised by everyone.”

On foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows, he said, “Eighth consecutive year in a row, India has set a new record for FDI. The breadth of the Indian opportunity is expanding tremendously — 101 countries today trust India’s leadership and potential, that too in the midst of the pandemic. From the previous year to this year, the manufacturing part of this FDI increased by 76 percent, which is huge.”
