India has a strategic opportunity to emerge as a manufacturing alternative to China, but to seize the opportunity, it needs to take further action, said outgoing US Ambassador Kenneth Juster.
In his farewell speech, Juster said that India has a less than predictable regulatory environment for investors and added that there were frictions and frustrations in India-US trade relations.
The outgoing US envoy was optimistic about relationships between India and US growing under the Biden administration. However, on the trade front Juster said that despite persistent efforts the two countries have not been able to reach a decent trade deal.
