Institutional business is going to be muted, says Strides Shasun
May 18, 2018 7:15 AM

Arun Kumar, Group CEO & MD of Strides Shasun, said that Q4 was a disappointing quarter for us and also saw significant pressure in the US business as well.

“It is more to do with delayed key product approvals but also our partnered business had a significant price drop of two of our key molecules that we had partnered with two large companies,” he added.

Talking about business plan, Kumar said that the larger part of the business, was the malarial business which has shrunk in size for all the players.

"The amount of donor money that is available in malaria is almost half and the number of players have increased. While it still is an important business for us, the market opportunity has dropped for us from USD 35 million to under USD 15 million.” he said.

He also said that it’s going to be a muted year going forward as far as institutional business is concerned.

On numbers front, he said that there is no guidance and the main focus is to rebuild the company to size and quality.
