10:14 AM EDT, 07/18/2025 (MT Newswires) -- State-level data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics Friday showed the unemployment rate fell in two states in June, rose in one and held steady elsewhere.
The largest unemployment rate decline was in Illinois, where it fell by 0.2 percentage point, followed by Maine, where it fell by 0.1 percentage point. Virginia had the only unemployment rate increase, where it rose by 0.1 percentage point.
South Dakota had the lowest unemployment rate at 1.8%, while the District of Columbia had the highest at 5.9%.
The national unemployment rate was reported at 4.1% in June, down from 4.2% in May.
