The National National High Speed Rail Corporation expects to complete land acquisition for Ahmedabad-Mumbai high speed train by December 2018, said Achal Khare, MD, NHSRCL adding that the process was half completed.

Khare said that the project required 1,415 hectares land with a total cost of about Rs 10,000 crore of which 55-60% is with respect to civil works.
80% of the project will be covered by a loan from Japan, to be paid over a period of 50 years at an interest rate of 0.1%.
The government has also claimed that the ticket prices will be lower than that of the air prices.
The first bullet train route will have a 21 km tunnel with 7km of it being under the sea. The estimated performance by 2053 is 70 trips a day between the two cities.
According to reports, bullet train ticket prices will be 1.5 time higher than first class AC fare.
