March Kansas City Fed Manufacturing Index Posts Unexpected Gain
Mar 26, 2026 8:26 AM

11:12 AM EDT, 03/26/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The Kansas City Fed monthly manufacturing index rose to a reading of 11 in March from 5 in February, compared with expectations for a decrease to a 3 print in a survey compiled by Bloomberg as of 7:35 am ET.

The index indicates expansion, which is in line with the Philadelphia Fed and the S&P global flash indexes but in contrast with the Empire State index that suggested contraction. The Richmond fed measure suggested neither expansion nor contraction in the region.

The ISM's national manufacturing reading will be released on April 1.

Within the Kansas City data, there were index gains for the production, shipment, new orders and employment readings while the prices paid reading declined, though it was still at an extremely high level.
