May 21, 2026 8:46 AM

11:16 AM EDT, 05/21/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The Kansas City Fed monthly manufacturing index fell to a reading of 8 in May from 10 in April, lower than expectations for a smaller decrease to 9 in a survey compiled by Bloomberg.

The decline follows mixed readings for the other regional manufacturing data released so far. The ISM's national manufacturing reading will be released on June 1.

Within the Kansas City data, the readings for production, shipments and employment decreased while the employment index rose.
