Young entrepreneurs can see the war for water as the next big threat. But Preeyam Budhia, a young entrepreneur in Kolkata, has decided to do his bit to prevent this. She has taken initiatives like rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharging to send out a message.
Rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharging are some measures to conserve water and spread awareness through corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives that can make a big difference in the years to come.
Budhia has brought her own green touch to her family's 3-decade old iron and steel business. She has set up a rainwater harvesting unit in the factory in Uluberia. More units will be installed at plants across West Bengal, along with groundwater recharging.
Patton is looking to double the rainwater harvesting capacity to 50,000 litres. Rainwater is piped from the roof into tanks and used to cool the machines and moulds. Leftover water is used for gardening.
However, more such initiatives are required which can go a long way in water conservation.
