In the previous week, Prime Minster Narendra Modi had said that there is going to be an announcement on the minimum support price(MSP).

This happens usually at the end of May or sometime in June if there is a delay and the government and the Commission for Agricultural Costs & Prices (CACP) are still looking at those numbers. But this time around it has been really delayed.

Usually MSP is given out so the farmers know on what price will they get as a minimum support price for their produce. Even as the farmers have gone ahead and started sowing we still don’t have that to deal with.

Another important thing is that the government said in the Budget that the MSP is going to be higher 1.5 times of cost of production.
