Powell Refuses to Take July Rate Cut 'Off the Table' or Put it 'On the Table'
Jul 1, 2025 7:30 AM

10:07 AM EDT, 07/01/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said Tuesday at a conference he would neither rule out nor forecast a July rate cut, though he said most members of the Fed's rate-setting committee expect to begin reducing rates again in the remaining four meetings this year.

"I really can't say," Powell said in response to a question on the chances of a July rate cut. "It's going to depend on data. We're going meeting by meeting, but I wouldn't take any meeting off the table or [put it] on the table."
