Gandhi added that Jaitley knew about Mallya's plans of running away, however, he did not take any action against him.

While addressing the media, he said that Mallya and Jaitley were seen together in the Parliament and that 'there is a record of the meeting in the Central Hall.'

Jaitley, on Wednesday, slammed Vijay Mallya and denied his claims in a blog post by sayinh, “Since 2014, I have never given him any appointment to meet me and the question of his having met me does not arise. However, since he was a Member of Rajya Sabha and he occasionally attended the House, he misused that privilege on one occasion while I was walking out of the House to go to my room.”

In response to Jaitley's comments, Gandhi said, "Jaitley likes writing long blogs but he did not write about this incident,".

PL Punia, a member of the Rajya Sabha, said that the CCTV footage and the Parliament records 'will reveal the truth' and claimed that Mallya left for London after consulting the finance minister.

Speaking to reporters outside the UK court, Mallya, who is fighting extradition to India on charges of fraud and money laundering amounting to around Rs 9,000 crore, said he had repeated his offer to finance minister on settling dues with the banks before leaving India.
