Speaking at the Vibrant Gujarat business forum in Gandhinagar, Ambani stressed that it is the need of the hour to collectively launch movement against data colonisation, citing the example of Mahatma Gandhi who led India against colonisation.

"Data is the new oil. It must be controlled by Indians and not by global corporates. Must give data back to Indians" Ambani said.

The company has already invested Rs 3 lakh crore and has introduced at least one million jobs in the state, Ambani added. Gujarat is home to RIL's Jamnagar petroleum refining plant.

According to Ambani, RIL is looking to double this investment and employment generation over the next 10 years.

Ambani reiterated saying that Gujarat is Reliance's "janmabhoomi and our karmabhoomi." Dhirubhai Ambani, Mukesh Ambani's father as well as the founder of Reliance started his journey from Gujarat.

Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 9th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit in Gandhinaga .

The Vibrant Gujarat Global Trade Show is being held on around two lakh square meter area of an exhibition ground in the state capital. Around 25 industrial and business sectors are showcasing their products at the event.

Around 1,500 overseas and domestic buyers are expected to visit the trade show, which aims to benefit MSMEs (micro, small & medium enterprises) from Gujarat. Sixteen pavilions are displaying products in as many categories.
