September Chicago Fed National Activity Index Falls Below Expectations

08:34 AM EDT, 10/24/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The Chicago Federal Reserve Bank's monthly National Activity Index fell to a reading of minus 0.28 in September from minus 0.01 in August, compared with expectations for a reading of 0.50 in a survey of analysts compiled by Bloomberg as of 7:45 am ET.

The three-month moving average fell to minus 0.19 from minus 0.14.

Of the 85 individual indicators, 38 made positive contributions to the index in September, while 47 made negative contributions. Some 39 indicators improved in the month, while 43 indicators deteriorated and three were unchanged.
