September Kansas City Fed Manufacturing Index Posts Larger Decrease Than Expected
Sep 26, 2024 9:01 AM

11:40 AM EDT, 09/26/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The Kansas City Fed monthly manufacturing index fell to a reading of minus 8 in September from minus 3 in August, below expectations for a smaller decrease to a minus 5 print in a survey compiled by Bloomberg as of 7:40 am ET.

The index indicates faster contraction, which is in line with the Richmond Fed and the S&P Global flash indexes but in contrast with the Empire State and the Philadelphia Fed readings that signaled expansion.

The ISM's national manufacturing reading will be released on Oct. 1.

Within the Kansas City data, there were index declines for production, shipments, volume of new orders and the number of employees, all to larger negatives, while the prices paid reading decreased but remained in positive territory.

Apr 3, 2024
(Reuters) - Federal Reserve Governor Adriana Kugler on Wednesday said she believes inflation will continue to fall this year as households and businesses trim spending and the supply of goods and services continues to improve. Powell added that the FOMC is in good position...
