To counter changes made by Centre in Labour Act: Chhattisgarh CM

The recently concluded auction of coal blocks for commercial mining is expected to garner around 7,000 crore per year for five states.

This includes Chhattisgarh, which is expected to rake in over Rs 840 crore per year. The last day of the auction saw Sarda Energy and Minerals placing a record bid of over 66 percent revenue sharing for one of the coal blocks at Gare Palma.

The Chhattisgarh assembly has also recently passed a bill recently to counter the Centre's agri reforms. One of the key highlights of the Chhattisgarh agriculture produce market amendment bill, 2020 is that it declares the entire state as a market for selling agriculture produce.

The state is also planning to bring a law in the Winter Session to counter the changes made by the Centre in the Labour Act.

On GST compensation Baghel said the states had no choice but to accept option 1 of GST compensation options proposed.

The state has reported a dip in active COVID cases for three straight days in a row. To discuss this and a host of other issues is Bhupesh Baghel, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh spoke to CNBC-TV18.
