TTK Prestige expects demand to bounce back in Kerala
Aug 28, 2018 3:50 AM

TTK Prestige, a leading kitchen appliance maker, expects consumer demand to bounce back in Kerala after the floods.

In an exclusive interview to CNBC-TV18, TT Jagannathan, chairman, expects rural markets to contribute 20 percent to overall revenue in three years from five percent currently.

Jagannathan said, "Our rural growth has been very positive. From last year to this year, we have grown roughly 115 percent in rural. Pressure cooker penetration in the rural market is very low as opposed to urban market, which is very high. So we are seeing substantial growth in rural market, but only 45 percent of the rural markets are buying and that will improve considerably,” he said.

“We believe demand will be very good in Kerala going forward. There is no retail going on at all, but people will have to replace the cookware and pressure cookers. So we believe the future will be good on top of a very big disaster, which I feel very sorry for,” he added.

“Currently, the rural contribution to the overall business is less than five percent, but with the kind of growth we are experiencing, it should reach about 20 percent in three years,” said Jagannathan.

“We expects export to grow about 100 percent this year. But the overall contribution to the topline will be only six percent,” he further mentioned.
