Oct 21, 2020 9:25 AM

Faster than expected workforce automation would displace around 85 million jobs globally in medium and large businesses across 15 industries and 26 economies. That is the key highlight of a World Economic Forum (WEF) report that has studied the impact of automation in workplaces. The report also highlights that 97 million new roles may emerge that are more adapted to the new division of labour between humans, machines and algorithms.

The report says that AI and machine learning specialists, data analysts and scientists, information security analysts, internet of things specialists and big data specialists will be the top five jobs in demand.

Similarly, jobs like administrative and executive secretaries, general and operations managers, assembly and factory workers, accounting, book keeping, payroll clerks and data entry clerks will find themselves redundant.

CNBC-TV18’s Ritu Singh explains the key findings of the report as well as how would automation and the 'Robot Revolution' impact India Inc.
