Zydus close to buying Kraft's Complan in Rs 4,500 crore deal: report

The Ahmedabad-based Zydus Wellness is close to buying Kraft Heinz’s Complan, Glucon-D brands in a deal worth Rs 4,500 crore ($610 million), The Times of India reported.

Zydus Wellness, the consumer product arm of Pankaj Patel – led Zydus Cadila Group, has sought out Rs 2,000 crore for the buyout from private equity investors, the report said citing people familiar with the matter.

Earlier, soft drink major Coca-Cola and Zydus were in the race to acquire Kraft Heinz’s Indian brands. However, Kraft Heinz went ahead with the offer made by Zydus after considering both the offers, with closing the deal within a month, TOI reported citing sources familiar with the development.
