The Power Ministry has announced the deployment of an Emergency Restoration System (ERS) at strategic locations, along with the necessary personnel and materials to enhance the efficiency of power restoration during emergencies. In addition, PowerGrid has established 24x7 control rooms in Manesar and Vadodara to ensure uninterrupted monitoring and management of the power grid. The National Load Despatch Centre (NLDC) is closely monitoring the grid supply in Rajasthan and Gujarat, taking prompt action to address any issues that may arise.

In a swift and well-coordinated move, Indian Coast Guard (ICG) evacuated 50 lives on June 13 at Okha, Gujarat as a preventive measure," the statement issued by the Defence Ministry said. The Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH) had requested the ICG for evacuation of 50 crew from jackup rig 'KEY SINGAPORE/01' located 25 nm west of Okha on June 12, it said.

"ICG Ship Shoor was diverted immediately for rescue operations. Meanwhile, ICG Helicopter (CG 858) was also positioned from Rajkot to Okha for evacuation," the statement said. In a nerve-racking operation, the ICG evacuated 26 crew by the evening of June 12. Consequently, the operation resumed with first light on Tuesday which resulted in safe evacuation of remaining 24 members, bringing all 50 crew to safety ashore, it said.

Shelter homes are being set up with arrangements for rations and meals while an action plan is being put in place to tackle medical and health emergencies, Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Tuesday.

All labourers working at ports in coastal areas have been evacuated, ships have been anchored, and crew members shifted to safer places. The administration has set up shelter homes with rations, meals, and facilities for pregnant women and children. An action plan was put in place yesterday (Monday) for medical and health emergencies, he said.

Cyclone Biparjoy LIVE update | 21,000 people from coastal districts shifted to temporary shelters so far

The administration has so far shifted 21,000 people from different coastal districts to temporary shelters,according to officials. The government is aiming to evacuate people within 10 km of the coast. Among the 21,000 people, nearly 6,500 were evacuated in Kutch district alone, followed by 5,000 in Devbhumi Dwarka, 4,000 in Rajkot, 2,000 in Morbi, more than 1,500 in Jamnagar, 550 in Porbandar and 500 in Junagadh district.

A total of 12 teams each of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed in the districts that are likely to be affected by the cyclone and arrangements have been made for the accommodation, food and medicine of the evacuated people.
