The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy rainfall in some parts of Kerala due to the presence of cyclonic circulations over the Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep. The meteorological department also predicted medium to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in the state for the next five days. The cyclonic circulations are expected to gather strength by October 21.
Thunderstorms with light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds are also likely to occur at one or two places in Kasaragod district. Heavy rains in the last few days had waterlogged and flooded many parts of the state, especially in the southernmost district of Thiruvananthapuram and the capital city.
In view of the flooding and waterlogging in parts of the state, the Kerala government had advised caution against spread of infectious diseases in areas flooded due to the rains. The government had directed surveillance in the districts be strengthened and awareness activities be intensified, apart from ensuring availability of medicines.

In New Delhi, overnight showers led to a dip in temperature. Gusty winds accompanied by rain had lashed parts of the national capital and neighbouring areas on Monday night. From 8:30 am on Monday to 8:30 am on Tuesday, according to the IMD, the city logged 5 mm of rainfall. The humidity at 8:30 am stood at 80%.
The weather department has predicted a cloudy sky with light rain later in the day.
In another related development, as many as 13 flights that were to land at the Delhi airport on Monday evening were diverted due to bad weather, PTI reported quoting an official. The diversions happened between 7 pm and 11 pm on Monday. The flights were diverted to Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Lucknow.
