Delhi's air quality dipped to the 'very poor' category on Sunday, October 22.
On October 21, the Centre's air quality panel directed authorities in NCR to increase parking fees to discourage private transport and encourage the services of CNG or electric buses and metros. This move comes under 'Stage II' of the 'graded response action plan', which is the Centre's pollution control plan, to combat air pollution during the winter.
Meanwhile, over the weekend the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) also issued a warning that it would halt construction at all sites, including private and government projects if the dust and pollution control measures were not implemented. It had issued a detailed statement on how it plans to execute smog control in particular and keep a close watch on construction activities.
