Weather Update | NDMC distributes ration to 100 families that lost livelihood in Delhi flood

The New Delhi Municipal Council on Tuesday distributed ration to farmers and fisherfolk living along the Yamuna here who lost their livelihood in the recent flood. The donation drive was organised with support of the Uma Niranjan Foundation. New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Vice-Chairman Satish Upadhyay said around 1,300 kilogrammes of essential ration was distributed to about 100 distressed families. Upadhyay stressed the importance of extending help and support to those facing adversity and said the ration was distributed to flood-affected people "earning their livelihood through farming and fishing under the DND Flyway".

Weather Update | Delhi government lifts ban on entry of heavy goods vehicles as Yamuna water recedes

The Delhi government has decided to lift the restrictions on the entry of heavy goods vehicles into the national capital from July 19. The restrictions were imposed on July 13 from the four borders, including Singhu, as a precautionary measure due to the rising level of the Yamuna's water. The government announced partial lifting of the restrictions on July 17. It announced on Tuesday that the curbs have been fully lifted.

"Considering the improvement of flood situation and descending water level of Yamuna river, it has been decided by the Competent Authority to withdraw all restrictions ... with effect from 19-07-2023 (July 19)," read the new order. The Yamuna's level at 5 pm was recorded at 205.43 metres. However, it is still flowing above the danger mark of 205.33 metres.

Normal life was disrupted at several places in Telangana on Tuesday following widespread rains and the Met office has forecast heavy and very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Khammam, Warangal and other districts in the next few days. In its forecast and farmers weather bulletin, the Met Centre said, heavy to very heavy rain with extremely heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in Khammam, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda and Janagaon districts on Tuesday. On Wednesday, it said, heavy to very heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts - Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Nizamabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam and others. In its forecast for Hyderabad and neighbourhood for the next 48 hours, the Met Centre said light to moderate rain or thundershowers and at times intense spells are very likely to occur in the city.

Weather update | IMD issues alert in these states

The IMD has issued a red alert for rainfall in Palghar and Raigad in Maharashtra for tomorrow. Meanwhile, an orange alert has been issued for Thane, Mumbai and Ratnagiri. "Increase in rain likely along west coast, very heavy rain likely over Konkan & Goa for next 5 days. Heavy rain likely over Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Telangana & Odisha for next 3 days," the IMD said. Subdued rainfall likely over northeast, east India, plains of northwest India (except East Rajasthan) for next 4 to 5 days.
