It's the beginning of a New Year and what should be your investment strategy in 2019? Which are the top mutual funds you should be looking at? CNBC-TV18 finds out with Kaustubh Belapurkar, director-fund research at Morningstar Investment Adviser India.
The last couple of years has been interesting and the small and midcaps were doing really well and then 2018 happened where there was a sharp drop off and largecaps were the ones that protected the capital, Belapurkar said.
Now, for people who are either already invested and are looking to invest further, largecaps still forms a very dominant part of the core holding of an investor's portfolio, Belapurkar said.
"It is the one that may not give you standout returns, but will be reasonably less volatile than some of the smaller or the midcap funds and largecap should be the bedrock of your portfolio," he added.
