Q: 47-year-old Jagannadha Kumar G writes to us from Andhra Pradesh. I have invested Rs 1 lakh in SBI-Dual Adv Fund Series XXV Regular Growth and HDTV Opportunity Fund-1140 D Regular Growth. Please advise.
A: SBI Dual Advantage Funds:
Close-ended conservative debt fund with a maturity of 3 ½ yrs.
Around 15 percent allocation to equity.
Replacement to your bank fixed deposit with a potential of slightly higher return
HDFC Housing Opportunities Fund – 1140D:
Three year close ended thematic equity fund investing in stocks with exposure to housing sector
Is well diversified but still thematic.
65 percent large caps like L&T, SBI, HDFC and ICICI Bank.
Don’t see a significant value add of such product to portfolio construction.
