Q: Vinodh Sundaravadanam writes to us on Facebook. Your opinion on DSP Focus Fund.

A: DSP Focus Fund has recently seen a change in fund manager and consequently its investment style. The fund is now managed by Gopal Agarwal who is known for his stock picking style and a strong focus on the macro environment. We like his investment style.

The past track record of DSP Focus Fund has been patchy, but with a change in fund manager, the past performance is of little value in your investment decision. Going with a focused portfolio approach, one needs to be very confident of the fund manager’s investment style which with Gopal Agarwal cannot be questioned. The other options are the ICICI Focused Equity Fund and the Motilal Oswal, which as a fund house runs all its schemes with smaller number of stocks.
