Research Alert: CFRA Keeps Buy Opinion On Shares Of The Progressive Corporation
Oct 20, 2025 1:16 PM

03:55 PM EDT, 10/20/2025 (MT Newswires) -- CFRA, an independent research provider, has provided MT Newswires with the following research alert. Analysts at CFRA have summarized their opinion as follows:

We cut our target price by $25 to $265, 13.3x our newly initiated 2027 operating EPS estimate of $19.95 and 14.4x our 2026 EPS estimate of $18.45 (up from $17.35) vs. the three-year average forward multiple of 19x and peers at 13x. We raise our 2025 EPS by $0.83 to $17.53. Q3 operating EPS of $4.05 (Q3 2024: $3.58) topped our $3.22 EPS estimate, but lagged consensus at $5.05. We attribute recent weakness to a Q3 charge of $950M to cover expected Florida (FL) policyholder rebates amid expectations that (despite previous rate reductions) PGR's profits in FL in 2023-2025 will exceed the statutory profit limit there. We think investors are also concerned over price softening, though PGR's YTD written premium growth of 13% is above the peer average. At current levels, PGR trades at 13x our 2025 EPS estimate, a 32% discount to historical averages and in line with peers, though its results continue to surpass peers' top-line growth and underwriting profitability.
